Higa responds to the polls/Citizen Legislator
"I told the newspapers that I have been running a real grass roots campaign.
The only poll I am interested in is the one on Sept. 20th. With 40% undecided,
I feel that this race is a toss up. I stand by my record, and the experience
that I would bring if elected mayor. I have real ideas on how to solve and
address the many concerns of our citizens. I ask people to look at the
candidates and their records. I have never been a politician. I have always
modeled myself as a citizen legislator. This type of legislator is the person
who tells it like it is, and actually works to solve the many problems.
Politicians will always tell you what you would like to hear, but never deliver
any results. Since I have been on the council, I have consistently dealt with
every issue, and I can give you details on why I supported or didn't support
each of my vote. I challenge the other candidates if they can explain each and
every vote that they have made? I know that I can. If given the opportunity, I
will continue to be one of the most accessible elected officials available to
the public. It may take me a while, but I try to personally answer every phone
call to my office, if they request a call back. I know I have way more support
than what the poll suggest, and I humbly ask all of my supporters to continue
to spread the message about the type of mayor I will be."
